Cardio

I personally find cardio very boring so I try and make it more exciting by making different playlists on my Ipod and varying the type of equipment used.

There are lots of different pieces of equipment to do your cardio workout on. We will take a closer look at each type including the Treadmill, Cross Trainer, Rower and Bike.

My favourite type of cardio workout is called HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). A HIIT session involves a warmup period, several short, maximum-intensity efforts separated by moderate recovery intervals, and a cooldown period. I try and make the session last for 20-30 mins, but it all depends on the intensity and how focused I am.

There are a number of reasons why we perform cardio. Most people do it to burn calories to help lose weight, others perform it for health reasons and some perform it to improve their athletic performance. We will take a look at different types of workouts for all of the above reasons later on.
